Serving Canby, OR

Your Paving Contractor in Canby, OR

Smooth Rollin’ Sealcoating and Paving serves Canby, along 99E in the heart of Clackamas County farm country. Canby calls itself Oregon’s Garden Spot and the nursery industry here is the real economy, which changes what paving means in this town. A nursery yard takes forklifts, loaded flatbeds and delivery trucks year round, on ground that was farmland before it was anything else.

That matters because agricultural ground drains differently from a residential subdivision and it is often softer than it looks. We do more base work per square foot in Canby than almost anywhere else we operate, and it is the right call. A yard surface built to residential specification will rut under a loaded flatbed inside one season. Beyond the nurseries, we do a lot of standard residential work in the neighborhoods off 99E, plus event and overflow parking, since the Clackamas County Fairgrounds have been drawing crowds here since 1907.

Nearby we also serve Oregon City, OR, Wilsonville, OR, Molalla, OR and Woodburn, OR. See every city we cover on our service areas page.

Why Choose Us

The Smooth Rollin' Advantage in Canby

We deliver exceptional results backed by transparent pricing and a commitment to quality.

We Spec for Farm and Yard Equipment

Forklifts and loaded flatbeds put point loads on pavement that no car comes close to. We build nursery and yard surfaces to take them, which usually means more base than a residential quote would carry. Underbuilding here fails within a season.

We Deal With Soft Agricultural Subgrade

Ground that grew crops before it held pavement is often softer than it appears once you open it up. We assess subgrade before pricing and tell you honestly what it will take, rather than laying asphalt on something that cannot support it.

One Crew From Grading to Final Stripe

One team from excavation through striping. Everything we install in Canby carries a 1-year warranty on our workmanship.

Straight Answers on Price

A written proposal with base and drainage itemized. If the subgrade turns out worse than the surface suggested, you hear about it before we do the work, not after.

Our Promise

Quality You Can Count On

Every Canby job gets the same crew, the same materials and the same walk-through, whether it is a short driveway or a quarter-mile approach.

Our Services

Complete Asphalt Services in Canby

We offer a full range of asphalt paving and maintenance services to keep your property safe and looking its best.

locB rural paving

New driveways and yard surfaces for Canby properties, including the long ones. On rural ground the job is mostly base and drainage: a run of a few hundred feet collects a great deal of water, and ground that was farmed or logged before it was built on behaves differently from a graded subdivision lot. We assess subgrade, excavate and compact a base sized for the vehicles that use the property, crown and grade the length so water leaves, then pave. We also handle commercial and yard surfaces where equipment rather than cars is the design load.

Sealcoating and crack sealing keep water out of the base, which on Canby ground is the whole battle. Sealcoat shields the surface from UV, rain and vehicle fluids and brings the color back. Crack sealing is where the real value sits: a crack sealed at a quarter inch wide costs a fraction of the pothole it turns into, and on a long driveway a single unsealed crack can undermine a surprising stretch of base. We will tell you plainly when a surface is still worth maintaining.

locB rural striping

Striping and layout for Canby commercial properties, churches, schools and event parking: ADA stalls and access aisles to current requirements, fire lanes, crosswalks, numbered stalls and custom stencils. We also install speed bumps, wheel stops, signs and posts, and lay out overflow and gravel-edge parking where a property needs organized capacity a few times a year rather than every day.

Potholes, spreading cracks and broken edges get worse fast once water is into the base, and on a long Canby driveway a small failure can undermine a long stretch before anyone notices. We handle crack sealing, patching, saw-cut and full-depth repairs, base repair and drainage correction. Timely repair is the cheapest work in this trade, and we would rather do a repair now than a replacement in three years.

Cisco and his guy did a great job patching in asphalt for us. He is attentive and hardworking, and the results speak for themselves. We will have them back out once the weather warms back up to seal coat all the asphalt for a much smoother and cleaner look. Can’t wait. If you have any kind of paving needs, do not hesitate to reach out to Cisco, you’ll be happy you did.

They were quick to show up and bid the job. Once the bid was accepted, they showed up quickly and got the job done. They took their time to do a good thorough prep and cleaned up everything at the end of the job. Very professional and courteous. Highly recommend.

Couldn’t be happier. They showed up on last minute notice and far exceeded our expectations with their attention to detail and level of care for our homes driveway. Before, the driveway was a mess, but after Smooth Rollin’ Sealcoating and Paving was done our driveway was more functional and looked incredible. I’ll definitely use for more projects down the road.

Cisco and team did incredible job on my 20 year old driveway. They spent almost 2 days in prep and asphalt repair sealing all the cracks. Final cost looks amazing but really need it to heal up before turning wheels on it. Hard workers in the heat of the day. Highly recommend them!

Cisco and his crew did a great job on the asphalt patching that I requested. He responded to my Angie’s request almost immediately and was at our home that afternoon to take a look at the work to be done. His bid was lower than that of other contractors that I contacted. Cisco was responsive to text messages and phone calls. I had him do some extensive seal coated after seeing the quality of his work. I’ve worked with many contractors in my nearly fifty years as a homeowner, Cisco is in my top three list. Friendly and easy to work with.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about paving and asphalt work in Canby.

Yes, and it needs building differently from a driveway. Forklifts and loaded flatbeds concentrate weight on small contact patches, and agricultural ground is frequently soft underneath. We assess the subgrade first, spec base depth for the equipment that will actually use the surface, and grade so water leaves rather than sits. A yard built to residential specification ruts inside one season.

Often, yes. A lot of Canby ground was farmed before it was built on, and farmed ground tends to be softer and hold more water than a subdivision lot that was cut and filled. That does not make it a problem, it just means the base work matters more and costs more. We would rather price that correctly at the start than have you pay twice.

Paving installs a new surface and is the right answer for new construction or a failed base. Sealcoating is preventative maintenance over asphalt that is still sound, protecting it from UV, rain and vehicle fluids. On a long rural driveway the economics differ from a suburban one: sealing the whole length is a real cost, so we will tell you honestly whether the whole run needs it or only the sections that are actually weathering.

Every two to three years for most Canby surfaces, with crack sealing whenever a crack appears rather than on a schedule. Our rainfall is why the interval is shorter here than in drier parts of the country. On long driveways the sections that need attention first are usually the ones under tree cover and the low points where water sits, and it is often sensible to treat those rather than the whole length every cycle.

Usually 24 to 72 hours for cars depending on temperature and thickness, and we give you a specific figure before we leave. If your property sees delivery trucks, equipment or stock trailers, hold those back longer, because heavy weight on asphalt that has not fully hardened leaves permanent ruts. For the first several weeks also avoid turning the wheels of a stationary vehicle and putting stands down without a board underneath.
